Cargoland by LGG
Liege Airport (LGG), Europe’s fifth-largest cargo hub, has launched CargoLand, a €500 million infrastructure project to be fully completed by 2040. Its goal is to position LGG among Europe’s top three cargo airports by revolutionizing cargo handling through digital innovation, advanced equipment, multimodal connectivity, and sustainability.
CARGOLAND will span 90 hectares for logistics development and 24 hectares for offices, including:
- A 38,000 m² first-line warehouse ;
- A 120,000 m² e-commerce facility ;
- A 180,000 m² landside warehouse for last-mile and second-line handling ;
- 15 new GSE parking stands and a dedicated MRO hangar to accelerate aircraft servicing.
LGG’s strategic location, within one day’s truck drive of 75% of Europe’s GDP, and daily freighter connections to Africa, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East offer premium global access.
CARGOLAND is designed to serve a specialized cargo community focused on perishables, pharmaceuticals, express and e-commerce, outsize cargo and live animals. All key stakeholders are present to add value at every step of the supply chain.
The project also introduces LGG Connect, a collaborative platform uniting airline, handlers, forwarders, logistics providers, and public entities under the motto “Support, Share, Grow.”
